Parent Counselling and Anticipatory guidance related to oral hygiene and prevention of dental decay (new parents visit us for understanding how to keep their infants mouth cavity free. We help parents understand practises to start from infancy to help their babies from preventing dental decay and also we advise parents who come to us with older kids how to maintain the oral hygiene at that particular age group)
Behaviour management and modification (It is difficult for a child to cope up for the dental treatment as an adult would. Hence we need to use some behaviour management and modification techniques to ease the entire process of dental treatment for children.)
Lauging gas dentistry (Laughing gas is nothing but nitrous oxide oxygen inhalational sedation. This gas helps in reducing the anxiety of the child and diverts the attention away from dental treatment, thus helping the child to cope up with the treatment comfortably)
Dental Treatment for differently abled childen (Few children are differently abled and thus require special care. They lack the ability to cope up with the dental treatment and hence a paediatric dentist is trained specifically to address these situations and treat them accordingly)
Treatment under General anesthesia (Sometimes a child is unable to cope up with the severe amount of dental treatment he/sheneeds to undergo. In such cases, we put the child off to sleep and perform the entire dental treatment in one go. This not only prevents the child from having a negative dental attitude due to repeated appointments, but it also frees the child of the dental cavities in his/her sleep. It is performed in a hospital with OT set up to ensure the safety of the child)
Habit correction and Myofunctional Therapy (Myofunctional therapy is physiotherapy of the oral and facial muscles. Sometimes kids who have digit sucking habit, mouth breathing habit, bottlefeeding habit, have been performing functions like chewing swallowing incorrectly. This physiotherapy treatment sessions i.e. exercise sessions helps them to chew, swallow, breathe correctly)
Jaw growth and expansion (Many kids these days have crooked or alaligned teeth. Now we can predict if the child is going to get crooked teeth or not at a very early age. If your child's milk teeth do not have enough spacing between them, it is a very good indication that he/she will have crooked teeth later on in life. At an early age we can start by expanding the jaws and by pushing them to grow correctly to enable all permanent teeth to erupt in proper position)
Crossbite correction (Inability to chew correctly, or to chew equally from both sides, causes, irregular, jaw growth. One side of the jaw doesn't grow enough as compare to the other side, leading to the development of crossbite. Sometimes crossbite are also developed anteriorly i.e. in the front of the mouth which may be either a single tooth crossbite or the entire front four teeth in crossbite. These crossbites, need to be corrected as early as detected, as they restrict the free growth of the jaws)
Topical Fluoride Application (Topical Fluoride application is a varnish that we apply on the teeth to enable enamel i.e. the outer layer of the tooth, to absorb as much fluoride as possible to prevent cavities)
Pit and Fissure Sealants (Chewing teeth i.e. molars have depressions and elevations in them. Sometimes these depressions are very narrow and they form narrow grooves or pits. Food gets collected in these grooves and pits causing cavities. To help prevent cavities in molars we seal these grooves and pits with a paint like material to ensure bacteria don't make their houses in them)
Dental Extractions (Sometimes the dental deacay spreads to an extent that we cannot save the tooth. In such situations, we need to perform dental extraction i.e. we need to remove the tooth and replace it with a space maintainer over there till the permanent successor erupts)
Tongue and Lip tie release (Tongue is the only muscle in our body which is attached to bone only on one side. Hence it is a free moving organ. What if the movement of this muscle gets restricted? Fascia is a tissue that coves each muscle in our body. In few children, this fascia is either too tight or too thick. This causes restrictions in the movement of the tongue. What gets affected if tongue movemnts get restricted? to name a few- Speech, swallowing, chewing, oral hygiene. Hence these restrictions need to be released in order to enable tongue to perform its functions efficiently)
Exposure of unerupted teeth (Sometimes permanent front teeth i.e. the upper central incisors find it difficult to come out into the oral cavity. It is because of a thick gum layer preventing the permanent teeth to erupt. In such cases we need to facilitate their eruption by causing a minor opening which eases their entry into the oral cavity)
Dental fillings for Primary and Permanent Teeth (Sometimes, even after utmost care, teeth do get cavities. But we can control and contain these cavities, if we fill them at the earliest. Dental fillings are nothing, but just washing the tooth with water and filling it with a white coloured filling material)
Root canal treatment for Primary teeth (If we are not able to contain the cavities by dental filling and if the decay spreads straight into the nerve of the tooth, we need to move on to the next step that is perform a root canal treatment for your child's tooth. Yes, even primary teeth can undergo root canal treatment following with a cap. It is very important to protect milk teeth so that the permanent successor is also protected)
Orthodontic treatment for crooked teeth (When permanent teeth do not erupt in proper alignment or in proper position, and if we do not address this problem at an early age, we need to perform orthodontic treatment i.e put braces to correct the alignment of teeth, and to have a perfect beautiful smile)
Similar to adults, a check-up and cleaning every six months really helps children and teenagers maintain excellent oral health. During these 30-minute visits, our hygienists and doctors will provide brushing and flossing tips, make nutritional recommendations, discuss oral health habits, and provide fluoride recommendations to help keep your child's gums healthy and teeth bright!
Children of all ages suffer from tooth decay, dental injuries, and even tooth-related infections. Our restorative dental services restore the normal form and function of your child's teeth.
Please call us right away if you suspect your child has a cavity! If a cavity is found or a dental injury occurs, we'll evaluate your child and discuss the options for repairing it, which may include:
Composite (tooth-colored) fillings : Porcelain & stainless-steel crowns
Stainless steel crown : Silver diamine fluoride
A tongue tie can lead to nursing, eating, and speech problems. A lip tie can restrict lip function, cause a space between the front upper teeth, and in some cases, even impede proper brushing. We're here to help!
Fluoride treatments can help reduce, and in some cases, even treat cavities. We often recommend fluoride for pediatric patients. It's great for children who have a history of cavities and for those who are looking to stay cavity-free! Fluoride applications are quick and easy, and we offer the choice of several fun flavors — our favorite is marshmallow!
